Meet Holy Trinity grad and Brevard, Florida Gators product Marcus Maye

When Marcus Maye was roaming the field and courts of Brevard County as a Holy Trinity high school athlete, his talent and potential was evident to everyone who saw him compete, whether rushing for 200 yards, leading his Tigers basketball team in scoring or sprinting during track season. The nation came to see the same after he was drafted by the N.Y. Jets in 2017.

He will throw out the first pitch at Saturday’s 1 p.m. Holy Trinity baseball game against Cocoa Beach, which serves as a fundraiser for the Marcus Maye Foundation.

Here is more background on Brevard County’s Marcus Maye, who has played for both the Jets and New Orleans Saints:

  • Maye’s own foundation isn’t his only cause. He donated to Holy Trinity’s fieldhouse, specifically the Marcus Maye Strength and Conditioning Center, the 2,000-square foot weights and conditioning section.
  • In March of 2022, Maye signed with the New Orleans Saints for three years and $28.5 million. He played two seasons there and was released in February of this year.
  • FLORIDA TODAY named him to its All-2010s Defensive Football Team of the Decade, and voters chose him one of the three players of the decade.
  • Maye was drafted in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Jets, 39th overall. He became a first-game starter at safety.

  • In 2018, Maye returned an interception against the Broncos 104 yards, noted at the time as the longest in NFL history that didn’t end in a score, as he was tackled at the 1. In the game, he recorded eight tackles and a half sack.
  • Maye was All-Space Coast in each of his three sports at Holy Trinity: football, basketball and track and field.
